ELIZABETH MAE CREATIVE

Merry Birthdays & Bookbinding

There was once a girl who wanted to create something special for her kind friend, Rose. She thought and thought, but could not find something to do. "Hurry hurry, her birthday is coming!" It came and went with her still thinking and still not finding. Christmas was next and this saddened girl was determined to not only think, but find that special gift for her kind friend, Rose. One day, while searching on Pinterest she happened upon a perfect idea to make as her gift to her friend. "A book, a sketch book! That is what I'll make!" she said. Searching still more this time on Google, she came upon a Youtube tutorial that showed her how to make her gift. Ideas churning and heart impatient this girl could not wait to start. She bought up chip board, gathered fabric, paper and thread and began her creation. How did it turn out? The outcome is here for you to decide :)

The book in the tutorial used paper on the covers instead of fabric. It also did not  have a pocket on the front, like this one does :) The stitching technique is called a Coptic Stitch and is one of the easier methods for bookbinding. The hardest part is evenly piercing through the board and papers, and then keeping the thread nice and tight while stitching it.

Going to make more of these soon!

Hello, I'm Elizabeth!

Hello, I'm Elizabeth!

ABOUT ME

All through high school and college I poured through design magazines and began to envision having my own creative business. Studying graphic design at the Academy of Art University (AAU) was the perfect choice for me. Graphic design involves both my Math skills and my carefree artistic skills. My designs solve problems. They communicate specific messages of beauty and values and it is this purpose in my work that makes me love what I do!
